In short, may we ask, “Why aren’t you buying from us yet?” “Because I thought the eBook would be free.” At Abbott ePublishing, we believe in paying our authors well because they deserve it. In fact, we give each author FIFTY PERCENT royalties on every copy of their eBook that sells. That’s 50% of the COVER price (not the price after expenses.) We can’t afford to do that and give their books away for free. New, original printed works are almost never free, and it’s not reasonable to expect they will be online. Many "Free" eBooks being sold online are simply stringing you along so you'll by an expensive product or even an expensive eBook, or are in the public domain, and the authors are long dead. (See below) “Because the price seems too low.” Sadly, a lot of "eBooks" online are scams, designed to make you spend $39.99 or $199 for a "system" to make money online. (The secret? You sell THEIR crappy eBook to other suckers, or worse, there IS NO SYSTEM at all!) If you see a LONG and cheesy-looking Webpage featuring quotes from “fans” and sometimes outrageous claims and videos promising wealth if you hawk their eBook, RUN. Needless to say, that's not our style, or part of our system of business ethics. “Because I don’t know what an eBook is.” That’s an easy one. An electronic book - eBook or “e-book” - is a book like any other, just readable on your computer or on many handheld devices. You can download the FREE Adobe Acrobat Portable Document Format Reader (pdf) for your desktop or laptop or, for handheld phones and other devices, the FREE mobipocket Reader can read books in the mobipocket format.
